London

I have been living in this great city for a while now...and my view of London has changed...now using the tube is normal (but it still annoys me), walking down towards Leicester square and all that is normal...seeing the Big Ben everyday is normal...what still doesn't feel normal is the lack of normality...i know it sounds strange but it's not...for example, someone crashes by bike nobody cares, a pedestrian is run over by a car nobody cares... someone jumps in front of the train and...NOBODY CARES....so that's what I think for me it's still not normal...being a Londoner is nice and strange, hard and easy...and for sure I am still getting used to it!!

the tube...

The tube is one of the nicest things to travel in London no doubts about that...but it has so many wrong things with it as well that it becomes comical...for example, you are supposed to stare at the void, the empty space, but how am I supposed to do that when there's a person 2 cm away from my face? and let's be realistic, which void?which empty space? travelling on the London undergroung gives us the inside knowledge of how sardines feel inside the can....A couple of days ago, there I was reading a book while traveling (yes cause either I read or I am forced to stare at the person in front of me...and of course because I am trying to integrate I read !!), and then, what do I feel? This guy with about 2 meters or so decides that a good place to put his newspaper was on top of my head...and I was wondering...can he see me??? I know I am not exactly tall but ....HELLO I AM HERE!! instead I decided to start blowing at his newspaper...I was upset i felt like yelling...but that's the tube...that's one of the great things of traveling on the tube..another thing that really annoys me on the tube is that the doors open and everybody tries to go in and everybody stays on the door...nobody not a single person makes a move to the corridor...why my GOD??? loads of free space on the corridor and we are all on top of eachother on the door....honestly, the tube is great but dare I say can really really annoy you!!!

So the dare stays here on this blog, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SMILED AT SOMEONE ON THE LONDON UNDERGROUND??? If you, yes you, if you read this blog, next time you are in London, on the tube please smile at every single passenger, and please don't stare at the void...stare at the person in front of you, or on your left or right...but please STARE at SOMETHING OTHER than the VOID!!!!

Finally!

And FINALLY I got the money from my XMAS cancelled flight... please note that...Xmas passed, Easter passed and only after 4 months, 5 calls, and more than 20 emails later I received the money of my cancelled flight!
Honestly, to give me something thas was mine by right...this budget companies are very good and cheap, but when something goes wrong they have no good solutions and they take forever to take any kind of action...If I learnt anything with this experience is that I will try my best not to fly EASYJET!

today I am like this.... :(

we know it's relly really cold when...

we wake up in the morning look through the window and there she is...SNOW!!

It's the single thing that by being white and boring it's simply wonderful and marvellous! I Love SNOW...I really do, no matter how cold and sad or how down I feel, when I see some cute little flakes falling down from the sky I SMILE! and feel Happy!!! Spring should be out and about but...in here it;s still winter...

so the weather forecast says....SNOW SNOW ah, and more SNOW!! let's hope that they get this one right!!

tough reality...

And here it is the new year...a new decade a new start...hopefully a good start...i hope that 2010 will be a year full of good things...at the moment , things are pretty much the same they were last year...but we know things will just get better cause they can't get any worse..lololol!

anyway, we have to keep our hearts open, our smiles in our faces....and that's just the way it will be...worry less and enjoy more!

let's hope, let's work for it and let's get it...cause that's the way it will be!

here's to a new year...full of new opportunities!

the thesis....

The thesis...

the big moment has arrive..the moment where i left the lab and all the exciting lab work and spend my days sat at home, looking to papers, books and all the available literature...how much life changes when the moment of writing the thesis finally arrives...Now i live in constant state of guilt...if i go to the movies, or to a party (at hours that i couldn't possibly be working) i feel what we define as the "catholic guilt"...I feel that i should be here at home,working every second of every minute of every hour!! :(

It's an inglorious task, but it has to be done...and i am doing my best to do it, to finish it, oh hell to demolish it...lolololololol

But i wish i could implement one rule, one single and easy rule, i wish it would be forbidden to work on weekends!!!

and that's it....

i will post more as soon as i get more and more desperate! lolololol

back to life back to reality....

And i'm back...after some great vacations in the greek islands and in the Algarve i am back to my routine..to the english weather and to the lab work!!

and now, it's an important moment...important things to do, important decisions to make...a lot of "IMPORTANTS"!!!

But it's ok...the vacations were great i recharged my batteries and now i have the most demanding months ahead of me...but hopefully by Xmas everything will be done ...and a new life will start!!

It's hot...it's really really hot!!

and then there are ppl that still don't care about global warming....and i have to say....we should all care....just listen to this....In portugal it's raining...in Leicester it's 30 C!! is it just me or someone else also see that this is not normal....we are talking about England (where it rains more or les every other day) and Portugal (where you are supposed to wear sunglasses even in the winter)...so i really think we should all care very much!!

But having said this....this is the best summer i had in the UK in 3 years...so i am liking it!!!

we have done bbqs, sun tanning in the park...so it feels good, we know it's bad...means that the planet it's all screwd up, but at least it's hot and sunny!! lololololol
